With the continued growth and change in Seminole County and the increasing competition for limited arts funding, many artists feel that now is the time to take an active role in building an inclusive artists' community.  A small group of artists began talking; we decided to start the process by convening "listening sessions" among artists in every part of Seminole County (and beyond). If artists are interested and willing to participate we will take the ideas from the listening sessions and join together to create an association.
October 21, 2007

The meeting began with the introduction of Pam Coffman, Cheryl Evans, and Craig Johnson, who served as the facilitators for the listening session.   An overview of the idea behind the meeting and information on a similar initiative started in Palm Beach County
www.artistsofpalmbeachcounty.org  was shared with the group.  The participants were divided into two smaller groups and an exercise was conducted on envisioning what the ideal artists community in Seminole County would look like in the future.

The third "listening session" was held at the Seminole County Sheriffs' Office in an effort to cover more areas of Seminole County.  Again we had a wonderful turn out as our group continues to grow.  We would like to remind all artists that this is an all inclusive group, your input is welcome!
